Small US chipboard word

Hi, it's Sharon here.
I have been playing with another chipboard word this week. This time I used this US word, which is 50mm long.

I decided to use it on the cover of a minibook about my two sons, which is full of photos taken of them in Orlando this year.

I kept it simple and painted the word with acylic paint and then stamped a grid pattern on top once dry.

I have filled the book with photos and included loads of journalling pages too. I have completed some however I plan on getting the boys to write things in it too. They have made a start but between writing Christmas cards for their classes and doing homework etc I can't expect them to do it all in one sitting. ( more to the point they probably won't do it all in one sitting!! LOL)

More photos of the inside of the book is on my blog here

This will be my last post until after Christmas so I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I hope that everyone wakes up to a stocking full of crafting goodies.

ANGEL WORD

Hello my lovelies!!!!  This week I have been playing with a new word....

These words are brilliantly thick & take anything that you can throw at them hahahaha.  But this time I chose to just coever with gold Versacolor and then rub a little stickles over it.  It gives it a sort of aged look I think. The pic is of my daughter when she was 7 on a trip to see Santa back in 1992.

Thank you so much for looking today, HUGS xxx

Christmas Stocking

The Christmas Stocking was originally showcased HERE with Karen's gorgeous wallhanging.  Caroline has now also done this fabulous stocking.

Caroline painted it in red acrylic paint then covered with Croco crackling paint.

Then she covered it with a grey paint to highlight the cracks and quickly wiped off before it dried.

The top of the stocking is painted white and covered in Stickles. Little pom poms have been added to frill.

She then made a hole on the other side of the back part of the stocking so she could add the wire to create a hanger and finished off by using a circular stamp to create the heel and toe effect on the stocking.

Small Dad word by Kaz.

Hello again, this time I've used the small Dad, which is about 7 cms across, to make a desktop calendar in the style of an easel card.

For the chipboard, I inked it up using Aegean Blue Versamagic Inkpad, then added an edge of Jumbo Java Versamagic using a cotton bud again. This is the way that suits me to get into all the little nooks and crannies and I use it the whole way around so that it is the same everywhere. I tend to use a few buds doing it, but I bought a HUGE box from the pound shop!!

Once the ink was dry, I added a thick layer of Crackle Accents and, after I'd dropped a button in it, I put it somewhere safe to dry!

Once that was done, I used Tea Dye Distress Ink to add colour to the cracks. All you need to do is wipe the excess off with a tissue so you see the full effect of the blue ink underneath.

I attached the word to the calendar using silicone glue so that I could get it nice and straight over the ribbon and fibre.

If you would like the instructions for the calendar itself, you will find it ~{here at Bubbly Scrumptious}~

This is the last project I will be doing before Christmas, so I shall wish you all a Very Merry One, and may your stockings be full of Tando goodies!!

Winter Snowflake Wall Hanging

Hi, it's Sharon here. This week I have been playing with these two fabulous sets of chipboard

The snowflakes were used by Di in a class here. The letters that spell out WINTER are 70mm each and are a lovely font and a great size for working with.

I have made a vertical wall hanging with the snowflakes as backgrounds and the letters on top.

First I painted each snowflake in baby blue acrylic paint, once dry I sponge painted antique white over the top fading at the edges.

To give each snowflake an aged look I inked the edges roughly with creamy brown chalk ink. I then decorated each snowflake with glitter dust over glossy accents.

To make each letter I triple embossed them with Blonde Moments Sugar Cool UTEE. To make the swirl effect I stamped in to the hot UTEE before it set with swirl stamps, I also dropped some gems for extra sparkle.

I attached each snowflake with wire and pearl beads adding tulle and jingle bells to every second snowflake. Every other snowflake was decorated with Christmas Prima flowers and stars. I fastened a beaded tassle to the bottom and tied several coordinating ribbons and jingle bells to the top.

This wall hanging could also be made with the words SNOW that are also available and also has the option to be made horizontally.

There will be a class PDF file available soon which will show more step by step photographs.

Click on the pictures for close ups.
Thanks for looking.

LARGE FAMILY

Hi there, its Karen here today.  I have been playing with the large family word and it just screams scrapbooking to me.  It would alos be great on a book cover or on a large photo frame.  Kaz has used it here on a smaller frame and it looks fantastic! There are lots of single words available now so do please pop over to the shop for a peek.

I have done a layout of my Nans children (minus one!) using this word.  I covered it with K&Co paper and then edged roughly with Brilliance Ink.  I put some stickles on my finger and gently rubbed it over the letters to give a slight sparkle...Nan would have liked that!  Sorry that it looks wonky but the page wouldn't stand up properly hahaha

Thank you for taking a look today, HUGS XXX

Small Family

It's Kaz again today, this time making a very simple present using the small Family word which is about 12 cms long.

I've used a very cheap photo frame from Ikea and used Ranger Pearl Acrylic paint then rubbed Tea Dye Distress Ink over it, which has sunk into the frame and gives the sheen from the paint a colour tint.

For the word, I used Gesso to paint all over including the sides and then used Malted Mauve Versamagic Inkpad to colour the front. Once dry, I doodled the edges of the letters, then added 3 layers of clear UTEE. I stuck the word onto the frame with glossy accents.

This is a gift for my sister (I hope she doesn't see this) as I have a photo of her, her husband and their daughters taken on holiday when we all went to Florida and every time she comes to my house, she comments that she doesn't have a copy of the photo. This is why I wanted to keep the decoration simple, so that the photo and the family are the main focus.

She has a couple of photo frames with gorgeous silver hearts on them, so I added this to match in.

Small Owl

Hi it's Kaz here this time and I've been playing with the smaller of the owls from the pack of two. Karen made a canvas with her larger owl here.

I have simply painted the owl with acrylic paints and doodled on it for detail. I've added a couple of layers of glossy accents on the beak and a set of googly eyes to finish off.
He really is a little cutie.

A Scrumptious Thank You

Hi, it's Sharon here. Boy, oh boy have I had great fun playing with a new set of chippie!!

I got a chance to play with this beautiful THANK YOU sentiment that Karen used earlier in the week here.....

.....and immediately knew that it would be perfect to team up with a gorgeous paper cupcake gift holder that I saw on the Bubbly Funk blog, (Bubbly Scrumptious) here.

At 85mm the chipboard sentiment is the perfect size to add to the cupcake. I applied a few coats of Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE) to the chipboard in a few different shades including dark pink, light pink and dark brown and fastened it to the top of the paper cupcake with a cocktail stick.

There is a polytyrene ball inside the cupcake that hides a gift card inside it. The outside is decorated with paper, ribbons, flowers, brads and of course glitter!

It was a bit fiddly to make but I think it is well worth it in the end. A perfect gift to say THANK YOU to someone special!!

For full instructions on how to make the cupcake please visit the tutorial at Bubbly Scrumptious here.

Large Mum

Hi, it's Kaz here again and I've been using the larger sized chipboard Mum. This one is about 18 cms long, so it really is the focus on any project. I had the perfect sized tin for it too.

The tin has been decorated with alcohol inks.

I gave the chipboard a coat of gesso first then, once dry, I used distress inks to colour it. Distress inks tend to 'sink' a little bit into the gesso which gave it a lovely softer shade base. I also gave the sides a coat of white acrylic paint.

I then went to town with a variety of stamps and versamagic inkpads to produce a collage effect.
Finally I used a cotton bud to add ink to the edges of the chipboard and added a few flowers for decoration.

THANK YOU WORD

Hello, its Karen here today!  Tando now have a whole range of chipboard words for using on our projects.  Some come in 2 sizes which makes them very versatile too!  I am showing you what I did with the joined up 'thank you' today.

I painted the lerrs with 2 coats of turquoise acrylic & sprinkled glitter over the last coat before it dried....simples!!!  These words have a lovely thickness to them without being bulky so they really stand out on your work.

Thank you for looking, HUGS XXX

Small Mum

Today, I'm showing another birthday card using the small Mum chipboard word first shown by Sharon ~{here}~. It's my mum's birthday too in December so the release of the words has timed itself perfectly!

I've made an easel card, which are all the rage on crafty blogs lately.

I've glued some Prima paper onto the chipboard, then carefully cut around it with a scalpel. It is a bit fiddly, but it is worth the effort to file the edges to smooth everything out. You will need a nail file to get between the letters. I've then carefully painted the sides of the chipboard with white acrylic paint.

The rest of the card has been made using prima papers and flowers.

HOME HEART WALL HANGING

Hello, its Karen here and I have been playing with this lovely wall hanging!  You can decorate this in colours to suit your decor and of course you can use this as part of another project...I love the choices you get!

I have chosen to match my decor haha!  I covered the hearts with some pretty paper & then blitzed them with gold Glimmer Mists.  I had some pretty pearls on bias binding which I glued arounds the edges to create a bit of bling.  The letters have been painted to match & then I have applied Glossy Accents and sprinkled with glitter before they dried.  I threaded ribbon through the holes to bring it all together.

Thank you for taking a looksee, hope you like it!  HUGS XXX

Mum Birthday Card

Hi, it's Sharon here with my first project.

I have finished making a card for my mum's birthday using the small "MUM" chipboard word which is approximately 90mm long. I knew that I wanted a feminine card and of course a glittered word!

I painted the chipboard with two coats of Buttermilk acrylic paint and inked the edges with Chestnut Roan chalk ink. I then applied glossy accents and Crystal Glamour Dust for sparkle. The chipboard piece is really thick and sturdy and really stands out on the card.

The paper base is Pandora from the Victorian 7 gypsies collection.
The flourish border and 60 has been cut using the Storybook cartridge on the Cricut. The butterflies have been punched, stamped, blinged and layered.

I have really enjoyed making my first DT project and hope that you like it too.
Thanks for looking and any comments you leave are really appreciated.

Introducing Sharon.....

I'd like to give a warm welcome to Sharon as she joins the Tando Creative Ltd Design Team.

Sharon's work is stunning, do please visit her blog HERE to take a look at the fabulous work she has done.

Here is a bit about her:

My name is Sharon and I live in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. I am 38, married and have two gorgeous boys aged 9 and 6 who keep me on my toes! I am a primary teacher and work part-time in a local school.
When I get the time I like nothing more than to hide myself in my craft room and indulge in some crafting! I started scrapbooking in 2004 and started making cards last year. I love trying out new techniques and more recently have found myself enjoying the challenge of "altered art" where I often get to try out these new techniques.
I am looking forward to working on the Tando Creative Design Team and the challenge that it will bring.

LARGE OWL - TWIT TWOO!!!

Hello, its Karen here!!!  I have had such fun playing with the large owl this week.  The owls come in a pack of 2...not sure what the collective term for owls is tho!!!  Here they are as they come:

I fancied my owl really bright soI have covered him in some fabulous paper that has gold highlights in it.  I traced off the eye & beak shapes and cut them out of plain card, which I edged with Distress Inks.  Then I added bright buttons with embroidery thread tied in the holes.

I hope that you like him.  Keep checking back for more designs, which are on their way!!! HUGS XXX

Hip...hip....hippo!

Kaz did a fabulous job on the hippo back HERE on this post and Caroline has just another fantastic card using this little fella.

Caroline painted the hippo in metallic silver acrylic paint and stamped a swirl onto the body, using a grey pigment ink and then dusted pearl pigment powder onto the swirls.  This is the same for the swirl in the corner.

His head has been mounted on a spring so it wobbles.

Thursday 12 November 2009

Kaz here again and I've finished making a mini canvas using this gorgeous Dove with Hearts chipboard.

The extra dove and hearts give you the option of using these separately or, as I have done, use them for dimension.

I have painted the birdcage part with Pearl acrylic paint and covered the bird and hearts with Prima papers and simply inked the edges of each.

You can see the dimension you get from this second photo.

The canvas itself is 7 x 5 inches and has been painted then inked. The bead hook at the top was made by winding some wire through and around the hole in the cage, threading some beads and winding the wire around again. To cover the wire, I have just tied some ribbon. I would, however, recommend not hanging it by this but use it just for decoration.
