Mosaic madness

Do you ever start something crafty and then get totally carried away... well I think that's what I just did so apologies in advance for a long post lol.  The Tando chipboard sheets are brilliant used cut up to use as mosaics.  They are fairly easy to cut with sharp scissors but if you prefer,  a metal ruler and craft knife works quicker although it can be fiddly if you use small pieces.

I glued a sheet of none porous paper  that I had covered in encaustic wax to the front of the bare chipboard sheet... (only because the chipboard is porous... although I will experiment later directly onto the board itself) before cutting it into approx 1cm squares.

It doesn't matter if the shapes are slightly uneven... I think this adds to the charm of the finished piece.  You do need to ink all of the edges of each tile though which is time consuming but very therapeutic  In this case I made a bookmark using a shape cut from stiff card as the base, covering it with black acrylic paint before sticking the tiles in place with pva glue.  A bit of chain and pretty beads completed the look.

I was totally bitten by the bug by this point  and used left over squares to create a pair of earings in the same way.

Although in this case I used another square of covered chipboard as the base for the mosaic instead of card.  They are really lightweight and they will make a statement as they aren't small.

Finally... and because I can't throw anything away I used the leftover pieces to make this easy peasy necklace.

Again using a piece of chipboard as the base for the tiles....

So that it could be reversible if I wished.

Wow that really WAS a long one...lol Congrats if you made it to the end and I hope you will have a go yourself.

3D Splatter

I've been using the fab Splatter mask again, this time with 3D paste on a canvas. I positioned the mask and used a palette knife to apply the paste, leaving it uneven for added texture. As the mask is lovely and thick, it gives an excellent depth to the paste.

I painted the paste once dry and added some stamping.

Pretty vintage hanger

The lovely Tando chipboard tree and a sheet of bare chipboard were perfect pieces for me to use as the base for some pretty papers and an image from Crafty Individuals in their 'Vintage with a heart' challenge this week.
I inked all of the chipboard edges with my ink pad and added some beads and paper hearts to the wire hanger.

Love love love this tree :D

Home Sweet Home

Hi, its Karen here again.  This is another project that I started at The Craft Barn....if you popped by you would have seen me spraying these backgrounds to within an inch of their lives hahaha!  They got really wet but they didn't warp at all!

I used acrylic, cosmic shimmers & Viva Croco to make the plaques and then painted the houses & hearts with acrylic, adding GA to the hearts & rooves.  The whole thing is tied up with string and beads!  Oh and can you spot a little mask usage????? As in this one...

Here are the bare elements, as you can see this one comes in whiteboard, all ready to go!

Thanks for popping by and don't forget to come back soon, HUGS xxx

Leaf Flourish card

I made this card for the Stampotique challenge to use up scraps. The flourish is perfect for teaming up with flowers and a quote to make a condolence card.

I painted the flourish with Eco Friendly Acrylic Paint, edged it with versamagic inkpad and coloured the veins with a colouring pencil.

Welcome Bird Hanging

Hellooooo!  While I was at the Craft Barn Extravaganza I started working on this Welcome Bird Hanging & having a good play around with the new Tando Masks!  Here it is completed...

First thing I did was to chop off the surrounding circle as I wanted to mount it on a canvas (20x20cm).  The 'welcome' letters & the bird were first painted with cream acrylic and then, using the masks, sponged with distress inks. The leaves were eventually sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer mistsafter I cocked them up hahaha!  I then made paper leaves & a wing.  These are the elements that I used...

The Welcome Bird Hanging as it comes...

The fabulous masks...

The Cogs (used around the eyes, body and the letters)

The Bamboo  (used in blue around the tummy & back)

The Stitch  (used on tail & on tummy & neck)

There is now a large selection of masks to choose from and they are incredibly sturdy & scrub up really well!
For stockists please click on the tab at the top of the page.

Thank you for taking a looksee today, HUGS xxx

A whole host of Tando products........

Another creation from me today, I'm on a bit of a roll with these little designs, they are so quick and easy to do.  Many of the product packs have plenty in them so you could make loads of different designs with just a few packets.

I wanted a warm summer feel for this one....shame the lovely weather seems to have disappeared.

More soon xx

Music Plaque

This is the first of many projects I did while I was on a retreat recently.  It was in preparation for the Craft Barn Extravaganza that was held at the beginning of June.

The plaques used in these projects are very useful for making little items like these, they  make excellent gifts.  This one has combined stamping on the base, Viva Decor Croco on the inner plaque and Precious Metal paint on the flourishes.  The word music has been simply painted with acrylic and a layer of Glossy Accents added.

I have a few in this series to show you that I will post over the coming days.

Guitar card!

I know its a boring title but I couldn't think of anything else hahaha!!!  I managed to get my hands on a little Tando guitar shape which I knew would be perfect for my son-in-laws birthday card!  When the new masks came in I knew I was onto a winner for him...mens cards are sooo hard aren't they and he is really into his music!

The background has been created using the mask & black soot Distress Ink.  The little guitar is part of a set of 3 and has been simply covered with Viva Croco and then dabbed with cosmic shimmer pens.  A quote from Paul Simon & a bit of doodling finished it off!  Here are the pieces I used...

Isn't that sheet music mask fab????  Thank you for taking a look today, HUGS XXX
